Learning Express 2026 : Community to Prototype Journey

Apr 8, 2026 | Activity, Gallery

Our LeX2026 crew, students from KMITL and Singapore Polytechnic took a journey from the classroom into the heart of the community at Hua Ta Khe Old Market.

The process began with “Sense & Sensibility” studies and initial interviews with community members to understand real challenges—from older adults monitoring and access area management to sustainable waste management. Over the following days, students deepened their empathy through continuous engagement with local stakeholders, validating insights and transforming them into clear user needs and personas.

Back at KMITL, ideas turned into action. Through intensive design thinking, ideation, and prototyping, students worked collaboratively, refining their solutions with feedback from experts. The journey then came full circle as they returned to the community for the co-creation phase, where real users interacted with the prototypes and provided valuable feedback.

From understanding problems to testing real solutions—this is where learning meets real impact.
